I am currently in Japan and wish to take advantage of the cheap prices for used cars while here. Unfortunately we are limited to makes of 1991 and before. My friends and I are interested in purchasing a couple Benz for the purpose of export to Canada. The main problem is that we aren`t that knowledgable about cars and even less so about the Mercedes brand. We were hoping to get an unbiased opinion on what car would be best for our dollar. To be more specific we aren`t looking for the fastest most incredible ride out there but rather the one that will give us the least problems in regards to maintanence. Importing to Canada and getting the vehicle up to spec will cost quite a bit so we don`t want to pick up a model that will konk out on us with in the same year or has a history of problems/recalls.

So which models of `91 should we pursue and which ones should we avoid?

 

For 91 most every mercedes made was of high quaility but what i would avoid would be the 90-91 sl's they had just came out with that model and there were some problems. If i was you i would get a low milage W126 which is a 300sel, 420sel or a 560sel you will be very happy with these cars.
