BAS/ETS light wont come out. Ml 320 1999
BAS stand for Brake assist, so there is something wrong within the system. could be electronic glich or brakes, the ESP is electonic stability control, there is something wrong within the system, it could be several things, on both lights, As I said get it to a dealer post haste as both are safety issues.
There are a few things which I have seen that cause this.
The most common is a faulty brake light switch, although most of the time the brake lights still work.
There is also a relay in the fuse box which operates the ABS pump. This relay can sometimes cause a fault.
If you visit your dealer, they will be able to connect it to their diagnostic computer and diagnose the fault.

I agree with the above two posts.
Here's some insight to the system.
