I have a 1998 SL500 I recently purchased that had been stored for over a year. It has a new battery so I suspect that there was an issue there before. My problem is that the BAS/ASR light comes on peridically(mostly when coming to a stop after driving some time). It doesnt impeded the cars performance but does prevent the cruise contro from operating. The manual says low voltage is the culprit, but had it checked(while BAS/ASR light was not on) and all was well? Anyone?

 

try turning the steering wheel all the way to the left and right to the stops a couple times then the light might go out. if that doesnt work you might need a brake switch.
