ASR Problem on 1995 e320
 

My ASR fault light comes on at regular intervals while driving. when I turn off and restart the light goes off. the intervals between fault are getting shorter.

when the light comes on engine power is reduced to a fraction of normal power and the car stays in low gear, max speed 50km.

any ideas?
