Alternator Compatibility

I have a '73 280C and i need a new alternator that produces more power. I've noticed that many of the newer alternators appear to have the same mounting parts. Is this true? Could I get an alternator for say a 600SEC and put it in my 280C? I need at least 130A and 150A would be nice. Can anyone help?

RE: Alternator Compatibility

it should work just fine, just make sure that its not a NEW NEW alternator as mb as incorporated some ECU controlled alternators that wouldnt be compatibale, but im unsure what year they started using them. im sure if you stay within your range of 70's or late 80's you should be fine.
