ABS & ESP warning on E240
 

Does anyone know why when I start my car Mercedes E240 year 2000 Automatic, that a warning malfunction appears as soon as I touch the brake pedal. Along with the malfunction the warning says go to workshop.

Is there a reason for this, is it usually serious and can I fix the problem myself?

Any ideas would be very much appreciated.
