Default '98 SLK 230...Problem with lights. Update 1/11/07 post #7

Hey ya'll. I'm at work trying to help my boss with his car. I have searched the forum looking for someone with the same problem, but have had no such luck. Now to the problem. When he turns off his headlights the fog lights, parking lights and tail lights stay on. He hasto pull the fuse to get them tostayoff. My question is this, could it be a bad relay? Or, is it the switch? He got a price quote for the switch, and it was over $350.00. If anybody has any ideas I would love to hear them. Thank!!!

I'd go for the lighting switch.
Try eBay. You could save a lot of money.

Ok, He took it to the dealer and they told him it was a control module. I have no other information other than that. They told him it was going to br $950.00 for just the part. Does anyone know what module this may be? I want to try and find him one for less (Ebay, e-tailer, ect....).

The main rotary lighting switch is much more than just a switch. It is referred to as a module by some and includes electronics and fuses.
I've seen them on eBay.

Why don't you check out the rear tail lamps. Often times the short out on the circuit board and will back feed the power threw the lighting circuit causing a problem such as the one he is experiancing. Hope it helps bud.

OK, I got the part number. It's the PSE control module. Part # 1708200926. I have just started looking online for a replacement, but I'm not familiar with any respectable Mercedes parts e-tailers. Other than Ebay, could anyone point me in a good direction? Thanks in advance.
