Hi,

I have a 1990 300TE 376000kms.

The 4matic light stays on and I only have 2wheel drive. This has happened before but always cured itself. I normally had to drive a bit with the lever in "test" then switch it back to "cure" the problem.

My rear diff ABS sensor seems to be giving me grief lately. Could they be related? The front sensors are recently replaced.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I just ordered a rear sensor (what a royal pain getting parts to Canada through that site) so I hope to have it delivered and installed in a couple of weeks. We'll see...

 

Installing the new sensor cured the problem at that time, at least until a couple of months ago. Knowing the sensor was good, I looked elsewhere and ended up removing the carpet and cover from the front passenger floor. I removed, disconnected and then reconnected the 4matic computer. After re-installing it I found the 4matic system was again working as advertised.
