I noticed today that my tach was acting stangely. If I increase the RPM's up to 1500 RPM in neutral the tach begins to swing up and down from 1500 RPM up to 2500 RPM. If I then put the car into gear at its normal 650RPM idle speed the car will stall and be very hard to start afterwards. If the tach does not swing up and down then the car acts totally normal. I would appreciate any direction anyone could give me.

 

during the erratic tach movement, the engine is also fluctuating (RPM)?

tach is connected to ignition coil. check that out.
