Dear colleagues

This car runs very very smoothly, one cannot hear or feel it idling and power is perfect. Sarts fast and clean.
Occasionally however at a traffic light, or other temporary stop, it will shudder a bit and struggle to get away for maybe 10 seconds (feels like its starved for fuel??)---it does not necessarily stall, just picks up rev's and is then normal. On rare occasions at a stop it does just stall suddenly and cleanly. These events are rare enough, maybe once in three days of normal driving. Most technicians balk at these intermittent faults that seem never to show up when you'd like them to.

What seems a sensible approach to these things. Maybe Merc' diagnostics will show nothing.

Right now I have added 2 cans of fuel line cleaner and will give it a hard run--hoping this may clear a bit of dirt or something transitory.

Would determined servicing of all electrical connections and earth points be useful?

Drawing on your collective experience will be very much appreciated.

I would check all of your vacuum lines on the fuel inj system . I would also maybe try to rig up a test light on the fuel pump feed . So that when the problem occurs you can see if the power to the pump is being interrupted .If it is you could work back from there .Also you could maybe rig up a stobe timing light on your ht side & see if the spark becomes interrmittent when your problem occurs .If you can find wether it is fuel side or ign at least you will be able to narrow it down a little
