280S Speedometer scream

What can cause this car's speedometer to screech loudly in humid/cold weather?
What can cure it?

All help or guidance much appreciated

i think it's a mechanical speedometer.

it is suppose to make noise! ;)

couldn't it be from the cable being transmitted to the gauge? lube it.
