240D Automatic Transmission
I have a 240D with a broken friction band. Today I started to take the transmission out. I removed all the bell housing bolts, 6 bolts from the torque converter and removed the rear support. NOW, how do I get the driveshaft off? I have it unbolted on the rubber coupling, I unbolted it from the rear axle coupling and removed the bolts holding the carrier bearing up to the frame. I noticed a short spline section near the carrier bearing but the short shaft to the transmission has a very stiff spring in it that it would take a large prybar to move it. Can someone tell me the correct procedure?

RE: 240D Automatic Transmission
yes you got to get an air hammer and ,,lossen the nut ,,unless you got a wrench that big..you did unbolt the starter right

RE: 240D Automatic Transmission
Air hammer the big nut on the propeller shaft to loosen it if I don't have a wrench that big. I'll measure the nut and see if we have one at work that is big enough but not too thick. As far as the starter, I haven't unbolted it yet, but I will.
