2002 C180 AC Problem or Battery?
Hello folks
My 2002 C180 has just developed an erratic engine performance and terribly uneven idling when stopped. I noticed that the problem disappeared when I switched the AC off. (I live in a very hot country, so this is not a particularly good fix). I turned the AC up a notch at a time to see how far I could go before the problem kicked in. I have now established the maximum AC that I can have (so there is some AC available). What I'd like to know: is this an AC system problem or could it be a faulty/weak battery? I replaced the battery only two months ago, but at some point today, just before the engine stalled when idling, the red battery warning light on the LCD panel appeared. If the battery is weak and the AC is subsequently making too much demand on it, would that cause the engine to become erratic?
Over to the experts.
Thanks
Rob
