Question 1997 E300 Diesel - headlight bulb assistance

Hi, My father in-law owns a this vehicle in mint condition. I am very handy with cars but I am a little leary with this cream puff. He has asked me to replace a headlight bulb. The high beam does not work on the drivers side in the smaller of the 2 headlights. I examined the access to the rear of the headlight assembly and seems quite restricted. On the drivers side is the washer fluid reservoir and the passenger is the air intake. I can't imagine they need to be remove to gain access but I want to avoid guessing with his car. I do want to save him a few dollars by DYI though.
Could someone please describe the procedure for replacing the drivers side high-beam bulb.
Do I need to remove the headlight assy? or just get my big hand into that tight space .
I expect I may be helping him out more often on the less complex issues that may come up.
Thank you in advance for your help.

Regards,
John

Default Any help would be appreciated.

Hi I googled this in so many ways and still cannot find any details on this seemingly simple repair. Your assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
John
