1995 E320, new battery, wont start, alarm going off
 

Hello,

A few weeks ago my neighbor gave me a 1995 E320 with 128,000 miles. The car had been sitting for 6 months. The battery was dead so I charged it and drove around the block. I tried starting it last weekend but the battery went dead and it wont hold a charge. I just bought a new battery and installed it. As soon as I connected the new battery the alarm went off. So I disconnected and tried it again, well, as I turn the ignition key all the interior lights go on, but the car wont turn over and the alarm keeps going off.

I'm thinking it must have an alarm system that when changing/disconnecting the battery, it wont let you start the car for theft purposes.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!

Your alarm needs to be reset!

Close the doors. Take the key and lock and unlock the driver's side door. That should reset the alarm and you should be able to restart your car and turn off the alarm. Don't know about why the battery keeps discharging.
