1983 300sd smoking and cutting out!!!
 

I have a 1983 Mercedes 300SD. When the car warms up it will only go about 10-15 miles an hour up a hill. When I go uphill it seems like I am hitting the brakes as the engine cuts out. It works better the less I push the pedal. On flat ground if I have the pedal pushed more than halfway down the engine cuts out. At the same time it does this it will smoke out of the exhaust. The car takes a while to start after the glow plug light goes out. I have changed the glow plugs, and the fuel filters but it has not helped. Does anyone have any suggestions that might help?

I just bought the car and do not know. How do you adjust them? The car also seems to run fine with a full tank, once it gets below 1/2 it starts cutting out and smoking. I have put cleaner in the tank but it seems to not work.
