<FONT face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" color=black size=3>The ignition circuit of my 1968 280SL does not match any of the schematics I have available. It includes a relay-type device with contacts which should close when the ignition key is in the Start position. Closure of the contacts provide an electrical shunt around the resistor which is in series with the path from the battery to the ignition coil. The device shows a part no.: 033 201 00 01. Inspection reveals this is not a simple relay. It includes a small circiut board with transistorized circuits that somehow control the energizing of the relay coil. Applying battery voltge between the connector terminal 4 and the frame of the device (chassis ground) does not close the contacts. I would appreciate any information re this device. I can find no way the circuit board is conditioned by any outside sensor. Has anyone bypassed it so the device functions strictly as a relay?</FONT></P>
