124 series 230te starting problem help please
Hi i have had this car lying round for weeks now & i have dropped onto it again with a little spare time i have .
i have all but given up !!
It has a problem when cold starting it will try once to fire run for a couple of seconds normally then wont even consider it again untill i leave it for a few hours .If i catch it with enthusiatic working of the throttle it will pick up & run .but if i get it to this stage when i take foot off throttle to drop it into drive it cuts out . ie wont tick over .if i keep it on a high tickover for a couple of minutes ,before trying to put it in gear ,it will behave fine there after .no missfires ,plenty of power etc .
Another thing i noticed this morning was. When it is in awkward mode .i hear no prime up from the fuel pump ,when swithching ignition between off & run .
When it gets over its tantrums ,i hear pump prime evey time i switch from off to run (engine stopped) .
I would be really gratefull for any help on this,i am at the end of my tether.
thanks for looking Steve

RE: 124 series 230te starting problem help please Eureka all sorted
Sorted thanks for looking ,it was engine breather putting too much dirty air into air intake .removed breather from bottom of air intake & it runs perfectly .it does use a little oil & has high mileage .
