Default Center brake light assembly

Hi to all.

My center brake light assembly on my 2003SL 500has separated from the body and fallen back into an enclosed area. I noticed four metal mounting surfaces on the inside that have separated from the body. they appear to have an adhesive on them. maybe the heat caused separation?I was able to remove the red plastic lens from the outside and notice cracking in the center area. My questions are: How do you get to the inside area where this assembly is located. do you remove the interior felt panel on the truck? if so, how? where can i get a new red lens to replace the cracked one. how is the lens attached to the extrior body? adhesive? It just seem that it can be repaired with an adhesive but hard to get to. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

Default RE: Center brake light assembly

hello, the felt trunk liner is held on with push pin clips and you will see how the 3rd brake lens comes out when you get that off. I think its 3, 8mm screws holding the 3rd brake light on. the red plastic cover is not sold seperate. it is something you should be able to do yourself. be sure not to tighten new 3rd lamp in too tight or it will crack the red lens.
