thanks for the welcome, and yes we use the same user name on all the forums we are members on.... actually looking into all info that i can find on the merc injection pumps (bosch P style) got a customer truck here(1986 toyota land cruiser diesel) and it has pump issues, and there is very little good info on the pumps ( no throttle shaft, all done by boost and vacuum).... and we always wanted to put a 5 cyl. merc engine in an S-10

There is actually an s10 converted in Richmond il on clist. Its rough but I think it could be had for under 2,000. I just finished a Gen 2 4runner conversion. ForcedInduction should have some helpful posts regarding the inj pumps. Search some of his threads if you haven't already. I am too new with the om617s to offer any useful advice that hasn't been covered here in this forum already. Just clean the fittings for the vac lines to inj pump fuel control for starters. The intakes collect a lot of oil inside. If a novice was playing with the pump it can get confusing very fast. Customer may be better off w/another used stock pump. There is a nice detailed section on the mw pumps in the diesel perf section. Hope it helps.
