What stays, and what goes on this parts car (81 300sd)
Posted a thread earlier about the td merc that had been sitting for 5 years.
I guess I'm also wondering about this other issue I am inheriting.
I'm getting a parts car with the deal.
It's a 82 300sd turbo diesel.
The front of it was wrecked (lightly), but doesn't have a title, and I don't want to deal with it. The guy who had it before me ripped the motor out of it, and put it in his car that had thrown a rod threw the block (non structural, could be patched I guess). Anyway, I have that motor with the thrown rod, tranny and an otherwise complete parts car sans motor.
I can't have this thing laying around too long, so I need to take what I need and get it to a scrap yard I guess.
Are there any things that are notorious for going bad on 81 300sd turbos?
Switches, electronic systems...trannys anything like that?
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers!

The vacuum door lock seems to go out. Not terribly hard to get to with a screw gun. If you don't have paperwork on the car, you may have to do some stripping before a yard will take it. FWIW, check before you haul it away.
Sorry, I can't offer much more than that.
