w123 Ignition Switch "start" position
 

Hey folks,

Long time w123 driver, have two currently a 83 and a 84.

I put my 84 into the shed for winter and have a new problem on the 83.

The ignition key turns easily, unlocks the steering column, moves through position 1 and into the run/glow position but won't turn to the "crank" position.

bblock the youtuber commented that there is an internal lock that prevents the key from turning to start twice with out turning back.

Do you think this is something that can be repaired or do I need to purchase a new ignition component and swap my key over. Key is nice and crisp, car has never had keys hung on the ring, the previous owner kept the key in a leather fob with no house keys or anything it just won't reset so I've been jumpering it at the terminal block on the fender for a few days.
