Default vac pump shaft protruding?

Hello all, need advice please. Wife reported no brakes or acceleration. I cranked 82 300d and it was knocking bad, looked for source and noticed vacuum pump shaft clicking loudly throught the front plate! I am not sure what was there before or if it is repairable, is it a tell tale device? Is there a simple fix or a new pump necessary? Thanks in advance, Steve

On another board I found out my vacuum pump has major damage, of course. I am now looking for ideas of where to get parts, which years I can look for in junkyard, any exploded diagrams, procedures, etc. that anyone can help with, thanks, Steve
