Default ULSD in 99 E300?

I just got a 99 E300, and I know the fuel cap says "no additives" but I don't think they had planned on north america's use of ULSD.

Should I be worried? Can I start burning B5 or B10 to compensate?

There isn't really anything you can do to prevent running ULSD since it's at 90% of stations (regardless of pump labeling).

Yes, B2-B5 will offset the lower lubricity of the new fuel.

Please keep in mind that Europe has been using a variation of ULSD for a long time.

ORIGINAL: ForcedInduction

No additives at all are needed to use ULSD.

ULSD contains lubricity additives straight from the refinery as well as the fuel station's own blend of additives. Adding your own is a complete waste of money.
Two concerns with this: They set a higer acceptable wear scar standard than what's deemed reasonable by Bosch. I think even Canada uses a lower number than the USA.

There's been some fuel sampling from around the country (USA)and it's not meeting the ASTM standard in some cases. Seems like a hit or miss proposition. Additives are expensive and certain folks are always looking for ways to cut corners...

Europe has been using fuels with lower sulfur and even zero sulfur for years without issues.

ULSD's lubricity "problem" is a marketing ploy to sell additives and scare people into buying junk they don't need.
Sulfur: Isn't Europe rated at 50PPM when we're 15PPM?

I hope you're correct about it not being a problem. BOSCH didn't share the same opinion.

We probably won't know for 5 years or more.
