Default steering wheel problem

Hey everyone. I took the signal arm from a 78 240d to put in my 82 and I got it out fine because the 78 has the huge nut in the steering column, but mine has the hex nut (10mm). I can't loosen the nut for the life of me. I've tried everything- cheaters, impact drivers, anything you can think of. Is the nut reverse threaded or do i need a special tool. The haynes book tells me exactly how to do it, and doesn't mention any of these things. Any advice or help is much appreciated

The bolt is right hand thread. Be careful using impact drivers, as you may cause damage to your colapsable steering column. You will probably need two people to get it loose. Use a long bar and get someone strong to hold the steering wheel. A air operated rattle gun may help if it is really tight. Do not try to use the steering lock to hold the wheel. You will probably break it.
