Recommended Air Filter 1983 300TD W123?

Prices from $10. - $64. for a replacement air filter:
83 1983 Mercedes 300D Air Filter - Air Intake - Beck Arnley, Fram, Hastings, Hengst, K&N, Mahle, Mann, WIX - PartsGeek

Which should I buy and why, please?

Just acquired this for our son's 18 mile daily commute and already have lots of things to repair.

Thanks in advance for informed-advice.

Finally got Benz out of garage. Local shops don't seem to stock matching air filters - so I'll order one.

This is a '83 300TD.

Just went out to inspect the whole air filter assembly & after removing the nut & clips the cover refuses to come off.

There's evidence of prying on the back edge of the assembly - is it common that the lid may need to be forced?

I don't want to damage anything ...

OK, so something must be jammed ... flat prybar to the rescue!

Does this air filter assembly look original to you?

It has 3 bolt holes in the bottom and only one is being used.

Yes, that is a small puddle of oil in there ...

I read about a separator that can be added to drain-off the oil thrown-up by the engine - any recommendations re. that, please?

Thanks

I prefer the MANN Air Filter. They are very good quality, reasonably priced, and do the job efficiently.
