Default Recently Inherited 240d

I recently inherited a 1982 240d. I'm curious as to what the value of the car is to determine if I should insure it for collision? The car runs great, and the clutch is really tight. The only problem is that the steering is just slightly loose. Here are some of the other details. Sorry I'm not much of a car expert
[ul][*]58k original miles[*]Outside body is nearly in mint condition with a few door dings, no rust.[*]Inside is perfect[*]Air and heat work[*]Manual transmission[*]I have all the maintenance records[*]Garaged whole life[/ul]

thanks for the insights,

Kevin

best value the insurance company would give you on the car would be about 2500 and that's on the high side, and they will total it for less damage than that

try Hagerty classic car insurance or another classic car insurance outfit, they will mostly go for a mutually agreed value if it's not too far out of line. On the street, you could probably get between 2000 and 2500 for the car

Sounds like a nice low mileage car. Interested in selling it at all?My wife's 81 just started hammering internally all of a sudden this week. They're under-powered for highway use or long distance travel, but good reliable local transportation. After this problem, I'd rather have one with a fresher engine.

Probably not but what do you think it is worth?
