Quick door lock operation question
 

If I unscrew the door lock knobs and drip some oil down the threaded rod, just a few drops will that be beneficial to the locks operating quieter/smoother or are they sealed units where the oil will only drip off and into the bottom of the door with no improvement whatsoever?
