OM603 engine issues...
 

So to day i stumble upond this quoat for the OM603 engine.... it says


"The 603 engine was famous for several reasons: The emissions controls impsoed in the US amrket led to the creation of a diesel catalyst, otherwise known as a trap oxidizer. These trap oxidizers caused failure of the aluminum cylinder heads on the first generation of 603 engined vehicles. the first version was sold from 1986 to 1987."

is this true that the trapoxidizer caused the aluminum cylinder head to crack because i already had to replace one it really cost...

I have an OM603 engine that I started parting out, The head is gone and so is the fuel pump. The rest is all there including automatic transmission. If anyone is interested you are more than welcome to come take it all. I will be giving it all away to junck collector but I know a lot of those parts are very expensy and are getting very hard to find.I am in the Los Angeles area, California.
