My wife has one of those "not-so-sought-after" 1992 300sd turbos. She loves it but is putting a quart of oil in it per week. It smokes all the time. Not a lot of power going up hills. It does not leak oil and there is no water in the oil. I have read about the amount of smoke may be caused by the turbocharger. A little help on decideing what to replace?

 

The engine runs perfectly smooth and makes absolutely no noise. Would it still be bent rods?
