Default Newly acquired 82 300D

I have recently acquired a 1982 300D Turbo Diesel that was in great need of some TLC. The vehicle has 155,00(+/-) miles and was in pretty poor condition. Can anyone recommend to me if the vehicle is worth 'restoring' from inside and out? I have invested already in a new transmission, revamped A/C system, and some major vaccuum work. I have alot of play in the steering and a noisey "clunk" from the rear end which still has not been addressed. After all is said and done, after all safety and mechanical issues are addressed... is it worth my time and $$$ to restore the interior and body to it's original shape? I have heard these vehicles are bomb-proof but would like a second opinion before I invest anymore... it almost seems I have a gremlin that goes from one system to the next! Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.

sounds like you're already in to it pretty far. I have had several of these cars and they have all been good to me. motors usually go 3 to 400 thousand miles.

they are only worth about 2500 in good shape, but hey, if you like the car. go for it (I have)

Thank you for the input. I suppose you are right; I've already paid out more than it's value, but in the long run considering I do love the vehicle I might as well continue with the work. I hate the car was not taken care of in the beginning but at least it has a good home now, so hopefully it will give me many many miles of enjoyment Again thank you for the input,I will keep posting on the progress.
