Need help with a radiator leak???

Hello I have an 83 300sd. It has a slow leak from the bottom of the radiator. It looks like it is coming from a petcock or a weep hole on the drivers side bottom of the radiator. What do I need to do to repair it?? Is it easy as getting a new petcock or does the radiator need to be repaired???
Thanks Frank

RE: Need help with a radiator leak???

You should probably replace the radiator I had the same leak on my 83 240D the radiator has a copper core and plastic heads top and bottom. There is a rubber seal like an o ring that that seals the copper core from the plastic head. Once it starts to leak its almost impossible to stop. Also I had no luck finding shops that would work on the radiator. It requires special tools to crimp the heads on.
I went online to radiators.com and found a Nissens replacement radiator for about $150.00 Installed it in about an hour it was a perfect fit. Been working fine ever since.
You would not believe the sludge that I found in the old radiator once i took it apart so i am glad i decided to fix it.

shop around and then go to radiators.com. They actually do a price beat. They were a few bucks higher. I provided the guy on the phone a link to where I got the lower price and he checked it out and honored it. Their shipping was very good too.

take a visit in here http://www.theradiatorcompany.com/help/..
Radiators usually have a tank on each side, and inside the tank is a transmission cooler. The inlet and outlet where the oil came from the transmission enters the cooler. The transmission cooler is like a radiator within a mercedes radiator, except instead of exchanging heat with the air, the oil exchanges heat with the coolant in the radiator.
