i want to cut the springs on my 1982 300sd. does ANYONE have any PERSONAL experience with how many coils to cut to get a given amount of drop?

 

Are you stupid? If you want the car lowered buy these amazing things called lowering springs. I have heard they work really well.

lowering springs are not free. i do not want to drop ~$300 on this car if not a must. i only paid $800 for the whole car in order to set up my girlfriend with a veggie mobile and she's doing the wvo thang so the motor might get blow up in short order anyway. cutting is free and CAN be safe. (limiting straps) no i am not a 17 year old who drives a honda civic. i'm a volvo gasser guy who's looking for a turbo intercooled volvo diesel wagon to run on wvo, but my girlfriend says the benz is more pimpin' than any volvo.
