Instrument Cluster replacement

I have a 1985 300d with the speedometer inop. I have replaced the cable for the same problem a few months ago. Now i am guessing that the cluster is bad. Is a 1981 300sd the same cluster as a 1985 300d? Any help

Are the internal plastic gears the same, if they are the same I can rob parts if I need to......
