Injector pump problem 240D
I recently replaced my lift pump and discovered that the injector pump is not firing properly.
Originally, the car was gradually losing poet and having trouble starting. I would press the gas with little to no response. Then it would eventually start to rev properly. When I drove it, it did not accelerate fast enough and eventually would die. This problem just got worse and worse, harder to start, less power, and stalling. Replaced lift pump and problem continued. I losened bolts of inctors above glow plug to see if gas was shooting out and it just dripped out. Seems like gas is getting pulled up by lift pump but not shooting from injector pump. Is the injector pump bad? Do I need to fix timing on injector pump? I was hoping not to have to replace the inector pump, am I missing something? |
Any help with this is Gratefully appreciated. Thanks.

Already replaced fuel filters and made sure fuel lines were not clogged.

Take into consideration I am NEW to mercedes, but........
Most P style bosch pumps are known for being bulletproof no matter what their on. What your explaining sounds like what would happen on the old CAV pumps that old tractors had (MF tractors ect) when the internal pump veins (kind of an aux fuel pump) would fail. But as your pump doesn't have those I guess I'm just kinda thinkin out loud and to lazy to delete all this. Anyway as was implied by others double check everything, fuel pressure at the pump, run a clear hose inline to check for air leaks, ect before replacing the IP. For one barrel to be seized and barely dripping fuel out at the injector is uncommon but all five, just doesn't seem right; those pumps are just plain tough. |
