Information tid bits
Hi, I am so happy that I have found this forum. It has helped me tremendously with many questions. However, I do have some additional questions after doing a little bit of research and I need a few more tid bits of information.
- If I use an additive to assist cleaning my fuel system, how often do I need to put one in? i.e. at every fill up? Once a month...twice a month?
- My car has gotten hot a few times in the year that I've had it, , mainly during the summer, when idling w/ my A/C on but never "red-lined". I've replaced the thermostat etc. Radiator started drooling coolant faster than I could put in and now am replacing that. A week ago was headed home and car red-lined on me twice, each time I saw it creep up,(I assume due to the radiator issue) I immediately stopped and waited for it to cool down. I did not drive it home, called AAA instead. I have been able to start the car from cold and let it idle up to about 76-80 on temp gauge before turning it off. The engine sounds good, and I never hear any "bubbling" or "creaking" sounds.Just want to keep the system filled & running nice. Question is, will/has my engine been damaged badly if at all due to those few times it "red-lined"? From what I can tell, I don't think so but I am not a certified mechanic either.
- Lastly, I know what all the "lights" on gauge panel are, headlights, coolant level, SRS, battery, wiper fluid etc. I know them all EXCEPT for one, it is a circle of dots!
What the heck is that thing? It never comes on, blinks, dings or anything, it just sits there looking at me like some weird eyeball of some sort. If I knew what it was I'd be ok, but since I don't, it don't know if maybe there is something with my car I need to be aware of or not. Really creeps me out.So if anyone knows that that is, please tell me. Thanks.
The B50 is a blend of 50% bio-diesel / 50% diesel
B100 is 100% bio-diesel
That is interesting. I did run a tank of Bio on a trip last year. I can't even begin to tell you how well it cleaned my system.
I had to change the secondary filter at one point though, the gunk that was in the lines and possibly the injectors was disgusting.
After that it ran so well I could barely touch the fuel pedal and the thing wanted to "jump" right out from under me. It got so much more of a good fuel feed that it felt as if I was driving a "turbo"...and I like that.
So, if I just run some bio every now and again, I really don't need to use any additives correct?
