Default 1988 190D 2.5L timing

I got my brain thumping over this one. I did a head gasket on a 190d and i was informed by the dealer that if the cam sprocket was zipped tied to the chain and the rails were left in place the timing could not jump. Then after reasembly and the relization that the timing did jump the dealer kindly informed me that the timing could jump. From what I can tell the cam and crank are lined up but the fuel timing isn't. I did not remove the fuel pump but i was informed it would jump as a loaded cam would. I looked up in michelles about timing and it says you need a injection indicator that informs you when the number 1 is injecting and you need to have it inject 24 degrees before top dead center. That is just mind blowing to ponder how to set up. I tolk off the valve cover and the cover over the fuel spocket and noticed a mark on the chain. Is there any timing marks that will help me set up this timing? The why michelles says to change the chain is to cut the old chain holk a new chain in and turn it around until the old chain is out. It doesn't say if the chain jumped. Anyone that would help would be a god to me thank you.
