getting hot uphill

hi everyone, my (96 E300) car's temp indicator goes up everytime I go uphill instantly but does not overheat. I checked the fan clutch, coolant, etc...The moment I'm leveled, temp goes down...what could cause this? I thank all in advance.

It almost sounds like an air bubble. Did you recently have the system flushed?

thanks forcedInduction...my radiator is fairly new and see no dirt but will try your idea anyway.

thanks cycle boy...no I did not flush my radiator but will also follow that lead.

thanks again guys

I don't know that I would flush it, but I would look and see what the procedure is on your car for bleeding it properly.

may be your cooling system have the oxygen inside..it need to bleed the air~

Been meaning to ask this same question, its been hot here lately same thing with the air on going uphill with the air on been having the same problem.

I was wondering though what kicks the relay for the aux electric fan on cause I've never seen mine come on. Fans good, relay appears to be too. Just didn't know what tripped it ex. temp sensor, A/C, ect.

And what should these cars normally run in 90ish degree weather, 90*-100* C just seems a little much.

That really makes me feel better, just never came across a engine that hot. It did really mess with me when one day it was at 110*C, and I converted it to 230*F and the gauge was well out of the red. Very glad to know that its somewhat normal.

And the A/C switch that fires the fan relay, do they have a switch just for the fan or just piggyback off the high pressure switch?
