Hello, I tried this post on the "New Guy" forum and got no response, so I'll try it here. We just bought a spotless, one owner, 100% original, 75K mile '82 300 TD Wagon. I do most of the work myself on our vehicles and was wondering if there is any maintenance concerns I should have on this particular car? Anything I should look out for? The only thing wrong with the car is the dash lights do not work. It is not the fuse. Any idesa on that? Thanks for any help!!!

 

Make sure you change all the filter OFTEN; fuel, air, oil. OFTEN!

sleepwalker, there is no dash lights at all! not sure about the ash tray, i'll have to check that.
any thoughts?

 

yes, check that pin 13 if got 12volts on it with headlamp on and the connector inserted on instrument cluster. we go from there.

Does this thing has fuel filter?
Never changed one on my 83' 300 tdt.
But than it had only 240k on it, when I sold it.
New oils suppose to be good for 7 to 10 k miles.
Word of precaution >>> aluminum oil filter housing has easy to strip threads in it. Lot of unqualified mechanics like to put too much torque on the bolts.
Also mess up the vacuum line going close to it.
