Unhappy Exhausted

I am looking for the Complete Exhaust System (manifold- back) for an 1981 300 CD non turbo. i know it won't be cheap so price is not really my concern. rather that it will all be there and will fit. does anyone have some info?

It should run you about $600.00 for the complete system from Mercedes Benz. That's about what I paid for mine.

1500 or 1800 dollars depending on where i go. To me not reasonable by any means. i have the front pipe and rear muffler (120 dollars shipped to my door) but need resonator and center pipe. Any other suggestions as i am running out of sites to search. thanks to all who responded.

I don't understand your problem then. Are you looking for someone to install it as well? If you are even remotely adept with a few hand tools and have a pair of ramps you can do this yourself in less than two hours. And the price for the complete exhaust from your dealer should only be just over $600.00.

The dealers i called in massachusettes wanted 300 for front pipe 300 for mid pipe 900 for resonator and 300 for muffler. Or there about's. NOT INSTALLED! i ordered the front pipe and muffler and wanted to replace the bits in the middle. I ended up getting the muffler pipe removed from the end and just replaced it. i put the front pipe in the basement. there are no leaks but i am waiting for them. Don't understand how your prices are so far below the quotes i recieved but they are what they are. in the future i am going to go with no resonator, just the front pipe and muffler with aftermarket pipes in the middle! thanks to all who replied.

Jeepers! I can't imagine there's that much price difference between turbo and non, but wow, I suppose there could be. I can tell you I do get a discount from my local dealer, but not THAT much. I paid right about $660. total for my complete exhaust.

I had originally gone to Midas, and they quoted me $1300. installed and I just walked out.

Have you checked the prices on Autohaus? They're usually pretty reasonable. Good luck.

I know i was astonished completely. after hearing the price i replied "you don't sell any of these to anyone do you". he said "no we don't". guess that says it all! 600 or so i could live with. i think my dad, the former owner, paid 485 to midas in 1987 or 1988 for the complete installed exhaust. so it lasted 20 years or so.
i typed autohaus into yahoo search and got nowhere. do you have the complete web address as i would like to check it out for future reference anyway. is it Autohaus Lancaster inc.?
anyway, thanks for your reply!

http://www.autohausaz.com/

Of course part of the problem is that there just aren't that many coupes compared to sedans.

Yes! Thats why i like mine so much. though i don't see all that many 70-80 diesels i see fewer coupes than the rest. i checked out the site and it's great and they do have the resonator and it's reasonable. whenever this one fails coompletely i will be buying it. thanks for the help C.B.

I enjoy the heck out of mine even though it's a little rusty. I did see a couple that appeared to be in pretty good condition parked out behind a bait shop at a park not too far from me. One day I'll have to ask about them.
