I have a 1978 Mercedes 300D with a 1980 300D engine in it. (Previous owner fried the first engine, then replaced it.) I have a line on a 1982 300SD engine, and was wondering if the engines are exchangable. The turbo would be a nice upgrade, and the engine is selling for a reasonable price.

I am buy no means quailifed to answer this other than if fitment isnt a problem and you install all of the piping i would be inclined to think that it should work they are both 5 cylinders and i am 99% sure the trans will bolt up. I hope u can get a more confident person to reply to this.
