Diagnosis of Injection Pump

Diagnosis of Injection Pump
I recently replaced my timing chain and got my injection pump out of timing. I have been trying to use the "bubble method", but am not sure if I am getting the timing right as I can only get the bubbles to slow significantly -and not completely stop as I come up on 24 degrees BTDC - or if my pump is just old and in need of a rebuild.
The issue is that in the #2 line (going from the pump to the injector) I can feel a really strong pulse - much more than the other cylinders. Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks

RE: Diagnosis of Injection Pump
You replaced the timing chain for a reason--the old chain probably elongated to a point it couldn't be adjusted by any other means. Your first job must be to bring the O/T mark with the mark on the crankshaft to match up. I have no idea what the "bubble method" is, normally though, the drip method is thye most acurate. HAYNES has a good description of the whole process. In your case you probably have to dismount the pump, jump one tooth and reinstall. Hope it will help--hein
