CFM's

Anyone know what the minimum CFM's on a stock om617/turbo should be?

450?

Thanks for the info, I ask because I got a hold of a complete 87' Saab 900 air
Cleaner assembly for $10. The wix that i plan on using with it is rated at 315 so i should be fine.

Gotta get the separator issue figured out first.

here is how I picked her:

Her is my idea.
Will mod/cut the inlet duct of an old W116 (as can be seen on pic) as the feed to the turbo with a silicone coupler of course. It is amazing how snug it mounts into that unique Saab exit. This thing fits perfect behind the front light. The issue at hand of course is first, the separator issue, and second hoping that the CFM's will suffice. Not sure what Mann's figures are.

Im still in favor of the stock UFO, as far as COLD induction, but maybe will have both laying around as an experiment and exercise. Im still gonna seal the top of the OEM sep..then ride her and work on the Saab Cleaner as a second opt.
Thanks,
CHeers

(Future Selling on saab forums)

I agree that its a little smaller than what I would like, but if its filters are rated 300+ CFM why would its size matter? The turbo version 2.0's also run the same filter assembly.

Cheers.

Well, the good thing is that im not stuck or stubbornly sold on my ideas alone. In the end to learn is what matters to me. In acknowledgment of that, I have also been working on creating a custom sealed housing similar to that of the Saab as a 3rd option to fitting the Fram CA 8038. Until I figure this out I will just continue to run the "trash can" as my cleaner.

What are the flow numbers on the Fram CA8037-38?
