Can a dealer do anything for 84' recalls?

Yes, very old recalls, but a recall is a recall. If I stop at a dealer, would they look at me and laugh or would they be able to handle it eventhough the car is 24 years oldin 07?

RE: Can a dealer do anything for 84' recalls?

I really think it would depend on the dealer.I had a '96 Ford Windstar minivan that went into the dealership for a small transmission problem in early 2006, and while it was there the service manager performed recall campaign work for me on the front springs (installed guards to prevent tire puncture in event of spring failure) -- very much to my surprise, especially for Ford. That was a 10 year delay, so you may get a few funny looks if you ask M-B about your 1984 recall.

But if you never ask you'll never know. If the dealer can still get paid from Daimler Chrysler for performing the campaign work(and if the parts are still available)you just may getit done.

Good luck.

There is no expiration date on recalls. Actually the dealer gets a pat on the back from the factory for being pro active. They will verify the rims are original and confirm if the recall has already been performed. The VIN number on your car determines if in fact, you need the recall in the first place. Not all cars were affected. Only about 6300 cars.

Never mind, my rims are 374's and the recall was for like 3000-5000...
