c220cdi - power loss problem
Morning All,
I purchased a c220cdi, 2002, auto, estate a few days ago and have power loss issue with it.
When I do a kick down a message appears "EL, power control, please visit workshop!" and the EPC light shows beneath it. Then goes into "limp mode".
I have disconnected the MAF sensor but the problem remains the same.
If I switch the engine off and restart it the malfunction disappears. Then when I'm driving it normally it it seems to be ok, going up a hill can be a bit of a struggle and it doesn't seem to go above 85mph but no malfunction is showing.
Can anybody help please?

Hi Zed I am having exactly the same problem as you "same vehicle", this is what i have tried ,,
Can someone tell me if the egr should hold a vacuum on a 02 C220 CDI when operated via a hand vacuum pump, I am trying to sort out an ongoing problem with this car that wont rev over 3000 rpm. the codes from a star machine were P1403 P1470, Have changed the MAF and just stripped down the egr " Loads of Crap in there". the engine note does change if I hand Vac the egr and it is definitely moving, but its not holding a vacuum
Thanks Paul
Ps if i turn of ignition and restart the problem goes away for a minute or two then returns

i have the same power loss problem on a g400
it starts fine then i accelerate it and it goes into limp mode no more than 2000 rpm and 80 km/hr. i start stop the engine problem goes away for a couple of minutes and then back to the same .
took it to dealer they changed the epc module that was expensive very expensive no codes on the dashboard no malfunctions but the problem persists
any help?
