Bad running diesel

I have a 93 300D that is running poorly. The auto starts fine and runs about 4 miles before the engine starts misfiring ( alot of white smoke). If I shut the car off and restart the car it is fine for few miles. I have replaced both filters. This started after I drove thru some severe rain (no problem during the storm, problem started after sitting one hr. on the restart). Aprox. 1700 miles ago I had the timing belt replaced. Any suggestions?

RE: Bad running diesel

sounds like u might want to check the Intake piping i bet there is a large amount of moisture in there and that could be ur problem. Happened to a friend of mines truck however it was gasoline but still its worth checkin i think.

It sounds as if you've flooded your engine... but surely any water that got into the air intake would be long gone..... hmmm, or would it? Maybe check the bottom of the air filter for water. If you don't find any, then, any water in the oil? How about oil in the coolant?
