The tach in this car works sometime and other time it won't.When it does it lasts about 5 minutes and just stops.Any idea what to check first.

This car has over 300,000 on it but it drives really good.Not much to look at but the body is straight and no dents.

 

The tach amplifier is a block knobby thing located on the left fender just in front of the wheel well. Unscrew it and clean the connections. If that doesn't do it, buy a new one.
