300SDL Fuel Problem Driving me Crazy...Please help

Howdy folks, I haven't been on here for awhile, if I have a problem I can usually do a search, find it, fix it, move on. But this one has me completely stumped.

87 300SDL, 252K, good old car, but looks terrible, paint is shot, but ran great, and was my wife's daily driver. Last winter (Feb I think) the car began to idle rough, and would begin to miss on one cylinder at idle, when it began to miss, it would emit huge clouds of blue smoke that smelled like unburned fuel. Just off idle the miss would stop, and the smoke would then subside, the car continued to run great at highway speeds, no miss, no smoke.
After much research, I came to the conclusion that the head gasket had blown between the oil passage at the front of the engine and the #1 cylinder. I read that o tell tale sign was to remove the #1 injector and the see if the prechamber was full of oil. It was, so I thought I had figured it out.
The car then sat most of the summer, I finally tore into it, and when I removed the old head gasket I could not find where it was blown. I sent the head to a machine shop, it was checked for cracks and warpage, none were found. They did a quick valve job on it and I put everything back together, with a new Victor head gasket, & new head bolts. I even purchased a new torque wrench with the torque angle feature for tightening the head bolts.
The turbo intake impeller looked wet with oil, so I rebuilt the turbo an installed new engine mounts while doing the entire job. Also, I was able to get a set of injectors out of a 603 that only had 68k on it, it was running beautifully the owner just got new injectors, told me I could have his old ones for the core fee, so I put them in as well. It's amazing how much quieter his low mileage example is versus mine with 252k. These things get lots louder as they age.
Finally got it back together Saturday and fired it up, and the problem is not fixed!! It is doing the same exact thing!!! Now I'm thinking maybe it is in the injection pump?? or timing, as when I lined the cam timing mark up the crank showed about 8 degrees of stretch in the chain. I know that is way out of spec, but I figured fix one thing at a time, and I thought I was dealing with a blown had gasket.
I have never done a compression check on it so maybe since the #1 prechamber had oil in it, #1 cylinder is shot. I haven't taken the injector out to check again, I was so irked I just parked the car and walked away.
I read somewhere online that it might be as simple as a spring in the injection pump, but couldn't find out much more than that.
I wanted to kick the stupid thing but I figured I would break my toe or something.
If a fairly simple and economical solution can't be found the car will be sold for scrap, as my wife is tired of me spending money on it, and it's a fairly ugly lawn ornament. The car has several other problems as well, at this point I'm not willing to spend much more money on it.
Any help or ideas will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Nothing, no ideas from anybody??

Good, I'm ready to get rid of it anyway.

If anybody wants a parts car, or has an engine they want to drop in it and put it back on the road or attempt to fix this one. You can email me at ebrobb69@gmail.com and make an offer.

I plan to put it on Des Moines Craigslist within the next couple days with pics.

The car is located 35 miles SE of Des Moines, Iowa.
