300sd preglow timer
hey new to Mercedes. I have a 93 300 SD.Im aware of problems with this engine but really love this car. My question is about the preglow function. When I turn key to position 2 it takes about 2 to 3 minutes for light to come on and then 2-3 minutes to go off. I have only had this car for summer months. Can someone describe normal operation to me and possible solutions if this is not normal.

If you have a Harbor Freight store in your area they sell $4 Digital Volt/Ohm meters (Multimeters).
The Diesel Giant web site has a pictoral on how to check your Glow Plugs. The pictorial is for a different model but it works the same for your model.
You would be checking the Resistance of your Glow Plugs.
Unfortunately the Glow Plugs on your Engine sometimes snap off when you try to remove the.
