1997 c220d ecp light on

hiya all, this is my first post on your site :)
i have the car above, the other night the ecp light came on and the car began to stall and there was a lack of power. was just wondering if this is a common thing? and if so is it easy to fix?

A check engine light can mean any of a hundred different things. The fact the engine is going into protection mode (reduced power) means something is bad.

Until you get the computer scanned and let us know the code, we won't have enough information to help.

cheers for the reply. i know it was a bit of a long shot, i just thought there might be a known problem that causes these symptoms.
when i get the codes i'll let you know
